Kajukenbo
Kajukenbo was created between 1947 and 1949 on the island of Oahu in Hawaii by five forward-thinking men lead by Adriano D. Emperado. These men were from various systems of martial arts. Collectively their expertise covered many aspects of martial arts and included all ranges of fighting--from the grappling, locks, and throws of Judo and Jujitsu, to the devastating hand techniques of Kenpo, the circular motions and philosophies of Kung Fu, the long-range techniques of Tang Soo Do and the savvy of Western Boxing. These five founders sought to create the ultimate self-defense system by combining what was most effective from each of their systems in to a single art. Their philosophy was, "If it works, it's Kajukenbo.
